Dr. Jason Krutz Talks About Irrigation Efficiency

The Delta Farm Press Daily Feed that I received on Aug. 23 has a video of Dr. Jason Krutz discussing the use of PHAUCET, soil moisture sensors, and surge valves as tools that can be used to reduce the amount of water applied to irrigated crops in the Delta.  The information in this video provides an overview of how these tools function and how they can be used to increase irrigation water use efficiency.

The MSPB is using checkoff dollars to fund a significant portion of Dr. Krutz’s irrigation research and extension efforts.  This, along with other recently initiated MSPB activities in the irrigation area, should lead to increased use of the tools that are available to reduce the amount of water that is pumped from the Delta alluvial aquifer.
