Mississippi Soybean Promotion Board Seeks Candidates for National Leadership Role

Starkville, Mississippi — April 28, 2026 — The Mississippi Soybean Promotion Board (MSPB) is now soliciting interest from qualified soybean producers to represent Mississippi as a Director on the United Soybean Board (USB).
The USB is composed of soybean farmers appointed by the United States Department of Agriculture and is responsible for overseeing the investment of soybean checkoff funds on behalf of U.S. soybean producers. Through these investments, USB supports programs in animal utilization, human utilization, industrial uses, market access, supply, and industry relations—helping drive demand and long-term profitability for soybean farmers.
Role and Responsibilities
Serving as a USB Director is a unique opportunity for Mississippi soybean farmers to contribute to national-level decision-making that shapes the future of the industry. Directors:
- Oversee soybean checkoff investments and strategic initiatives
- Participate in Board meetings held three times annually (February, July, and December)
- Attend at least one Action Team meeting each year
- Commit up to approximately 21 days annually away from their farming operations
While Directors serve without compensation, they are reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred while performing official duties.
Eligibility and Nomination Process
To be considered, candidates must:
- Be a soybean producer in the State of Mississippi
- Share in the ownership and risk of producing soybeans
A Mississippi soybean producer may only be nominated to the USB by the MSPB. Interested individuals will be reviewed and nominated through the Board’s official selection process.
