Development of Mississippi Soybean – Climate-smart Irrigation Scheduling Tool (MS-CIST)

Investigators

Objectives

  1. To develop a framework for linking satellite-based ET products for managing water stress during critical crop growth periods
  2. To validate and test the framework in selected irrigated fields in Mississippi
  3. To develop a statewide dashboard for irrigation scheduling in soybeans.

Expected End Results

This project will improve the WUE of the soybean production system by integrating multiple data sources and cutting-edge technologies by developing a climate-smart irrigation scheduling tool. Specifically, this tool will optimize irrigation scheduling and minimize the irrigation cost utilizing remotely sensed ET estimates.
