2014 Farm Bill Video

As you are aware, the President recently signed the 2014 Farm Bill that was passed by both the US House and Senate.

The new Farm Bill will affect all Mississippi farmers–how they operate, what crops they grow, what safety net options are available, and what changes they will need to make to adjust or adapt to the changed and/or new provisions in the Bill. This is a daunting task.

To help producers in the decision-making process as they adjust to the requirements and options in this new Bill, members of the MSU Ag. Econ. Dept. composed a presentation that was made at several venues throughout Mississippi. The intent of this work is to bring farmers up-to-date on how they will be affected by the provisions of this new legislation.

In the video entitled “An Overview and Explanation of the Agricultural Act of 2014" (created as part of MSPB’s Project No. 11-2013) that has been posted on our website, this presentation appears in full. Hopefully, the information in this video will aid producers who are seeking understanding and interpretation of the Bill’s provisions.

As MSU’s Ag. Econ. Dept. faculty members delve deeper into the components of the new Farm Bill, they will compose a comprehensive report of their findings, and that report will be posted on this website as the Annual Report for Project No. 11-2013.
