Dr. Bryon Parman of the Miss. State Univ. Dept. of Agric. Economics has announced the 2016 MSU Agricultural Financial Professionals Annual Conference. This two-day event will feature presentations and discussions pertaining to row crops, forestry, livestock, agricultural land and rents, and farm programs, plus a discussion on interest rates and trade.

This year’s conference focus will center on risk management and cost efficiency that will be especially important in today’s production environment of high costs and low commodity prices.

Dr. Parman has also posted “Farm Revenues and Profitability for Mississippi Row Crop Producers: 2016", which provides the latest information on Mississippi farm profitability. Estimated returns per acre for most row crops and production practices in the Delta and non-Delta regions of the state are presented in tables. The report also distinguishes between irrigated and nonirrigated corn, soybean, and cotton crops that are grown in the Delta. The report is intended for use by producers and farm financial specialists as a guide to estimate expected profitability for Mississippi row crops in 2017.
