SOYMAP - Find Your Maturity Group Tutorial

What soybean maturity group should you plant? And when and where should you plant it? Following a lengthy study and analysis period, a team of Mid-South researchers have some answers. A project jointly funded by the Mid-South Soybean Board and United Soybean Board took place from 2012–2014 at 10 locations across the Mid-South, with four planting dates and four maturity groups — 3 through 6 — with four different cultivars within each group. When considering only locations in east Arkansas and Stoneville, Mississippi, results indicate that average soybean yields were highest from MG 4 soybean varieties that were planted from June 1–June 15. Average yields from July plantings were also highest from MG 4 varieties. Following the completion of the field research, a data set was used to develop an online decision support tool called SOYMAP (Soybean Maturity, Analysis, and Planning).
