Varietal Screening for Metribuzin Sensitivity--Univ. of Ark.

The handicap to metribuzin use is the sensitivity of some soybean varieties to this herbicide. Other environmental factors such as soil texture, organic matter, rainfall, soil pH, and product use rate may also play a part in sensitivity. The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture has conducted greenhouse screenings of soybean varieties to test their tolerance to metribuzin. The below reference item presents the results of those screenings, and breaks down the metribuzin injury scale. Please note that most varieties show acceptable tolerance to metribuzin. Thus, soybean producers are advised to choose a variety with a high level of tolerance where this herbicide will be applied.
