MSPB Searching For Farmers To Serve On United Soybean Board

The Mississippi Soybean Promotion Board (MSPB) is soliciting interested parties wishing to represent Mississippi as a Director of the United Soybean Board (Board). The Board shall be composed of soybean producers appointed by the United States Secretary of Agriculture. A soybean producer from Mississippi may only be nominated by the MSPB. A United Soybean Board Director serves without compensation, but shall be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in performing his or her duties as a member of the Board. The Board develops plans or projects of promotion, research, consumer information, and industry information to be paid for with funds received from the soybean checkoff.

Serving as a Director requires up to 21 days away from your farm. The USB Board meets 3 times each year, February, July, and December, in addition to at least one Action Team meeting.

USB is made up of farmer-directors who oversee the investments of the soy checkoff on behalf of all United States soybean farmers. Checkoff funds are invested in the areas of animal utilization, human utilization, industrial utilization, industry relations, market access and supply.
