A regional project that is jointly funded by the Midsouth Soybean Board and the United Soybean Board is nearing completion of its first year of conduct. The Plant Management Network has posted two new webcasts in its Focus on Soybean forum.
In the Frogeye Leaf Spot of Soybean webcast (July 2012), Dr. Kiersten Wise discusses conditions that favor infection and disease development, as well as management options to prevent and/or control the disease.
In the Increased reproduction of soybean cyst nematode and yield of SCN-resistant soybean varieties webcast (Aug. 2012), Dr. Greg Tylka discusses how knowing the source of resistance to SCN in SCN-resistant soybean varieties and rotation of varieties with differing sources of resistance can lead to long-term stability and maintenance of soybean yields in SCN-infested fields.
For producers who are considering the application of a pre-harvest desiccant to soybeans, please read the article Using Harvest Aids for Soybeans on this website.
Dr. Keith Coble and colleagues of MSU-Ag. Econ. have posted synopses of the House and Senate versions of the 2012 Farm Bill.
