New Posts from MSU
Two items from Mississippi State University (MSU) have been posted on this website.
Herbicide Programs for Managing glyphosate-resistant Italian ryegrass in Mississippi (MAFES Information Sheet 1359), written by Drs. Jason Bond and Thomas Eubank, provides a guide to help producers manage and/or prevent glyphosate-resistant (GR) Italian ryegrass in corn, cotton, soybean, and rice. They present herbicide programs that can be adopted for fall, winter, and spring applications in fields to be planted to the four crops. They also discuss rates of various herbicides to use, along with the most effective or appropriate time for their application in the three time frames based on crop to be planted.
Mississippi Land Values and Cash Rents: 2015 is a compilation of two articles (MSU-ES Publications 2940 and 2889) written by Dr. Bryon Parman and graduate students Louis Holbrook and Andrew Lewis of the MSU Agricultural Economics Dept. In these articles, the authors provide a guide for benchmarking land values and cash rental rates for irrigated and nonirrigated tracts intended for agricultural use in four designated regions in Mississippi. They also provide an estimate for general profit/loss from irrigated corn, soybean, and cotton crops grown in the Delta in 2014 based on the land values.
