PMN Webcasts--Fungicide Resistance Management
The first is entitled "Principles of Fungicide Resistance: Focusing on Soybean and Corn Production", and is presented by Dr. Carl Bradley, Extension Specialist at the University of Illinois. His presentation discusses the factors involved in fungicide resistance, how it may develop, and the characteristics of fungal plant pathogens and fungicides that can contribute to the risk of resistance development. Also presented are practices that can be used to delay and/or manage fungicide resistance.
The second webcast is entitled "Management of Frogeye Leaf Spot (FLS) and Fungicide Resistance" in soybean, and is presented by Dr. Heather M. Kelly, Extension Plant Pathologist at the University of Tennessee. Her presentation discusses management strategies for FLS in light of the resistance that has developed to the QoI (FRAC Code 11) class of fungicides in the FLS pathogen population. She also shows the current distribution of Cersospora sojina (causal agent of FLS in soybean) that is resistant to this class of fungicides, results from research trials conducted on QoI-resistant isolates of the pathogen, and strategies that can be used in soybean to manage FLS that is resistant to control with the QoI class of fungicides.
There is a White Paper posted on this website that discusses fungicide resistance management in soybean and how to use fungicide mode of action to manage fungal populations.
