Survey of Deer Damage in Northeast Mississippi

Dr. Bronson Strickland, Associate Professor in the MSU Dept. of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture, recently conducted a survey at two Northeast Mississippi Grain Shop Workshops. The survey was conducted to assess the level of deer damage that producers are seeing in their soybean crop.

The survey question was “How much of a problem do you have with deer feeding on soybeans?” Responders could choose from three potential answers, which were: 1) Not much of a problem, 2) Somewhat of a problem, and 3) A big problem.

The survey results are depicted in the below graphs. From these survey data, it appears that soybean producers in this region of the state are seeing significant deer damage in soybean fields.
