Variety and Disease Information--2015 MSPB Projects
As part of Project 36-2015, Dr. Trent Irby, Mississippi Extension Soybean Specialist, coordinated the conduct of 18 on-farm variety demonstrations across the state. He has compiled results from those trials in the publication titled “2015 MSU-ES Soybean Variety Demonstration Program”. The trials contained MG IV and MG V varieties grown on 10 different soil types in 14 different counties. Fifteen of the sites were grown in a conventionally tilled system and three were produced in a no-till system. Eleven of the sites were irrigated and seven sites were not. The trials were conducted to complement/supplement data generated from the small-plot Official Variety Test (OVT) conducted in the state each year.
As part of Project 19-2015, Dr. Tom Allen, Extension Plant Pathologist at DREC-Stoneville, rated soybean varieties in the OVT for resistance to major foliar diseases. These ratings, which are based on each variety’s reaction to natural infestations of each disease at each location, are contained in the publication titled “Soybean Varieties’ Disease Ratings–2015”. This file will be updated as ratings from each location are analyzed/summarized by Dr. Allen.
