Variety Information for 2016 Soybean Plantings
Dr. Trent Irby, Dr. Normie Buehring, and Dr. Tom Allen have provided results from 2015 projects that I have posted on this website. All of the items result from work done with MSPB support to Project Numbers 15-2015, 23-2015, and 36-2015. They are:
- Disease ratings for varieties that were in the 2015 Mississippi Official Variety Testing (OVT) program.
- The final results from the 2015 On-Farm Soybean Variety Demonstration Program that was conducted throughout the state to provide data to complement those generated from the OVT program.
- Results from the NMREC Soybean Variety Trials that were conducted at the Northeast Miss. Research & Extension Center at Verona, MS.
- The 2016 MSU-ES Soybean Variety Short List that was generated based on overall performance of varieties that were evaluated in the OVT and in on-farm demonstrations, and general observations of varietal performance throughout the state.
Mr. Brad Burgess, MAFES Director of Variety Testing, supplied results from the Miss. soybean OVT that are contained in the MSSOY Variety Selection Tool.
Information in all of these resources should be used to aid in the selection of soybean varieties for 2016 plantings.
