Welcome MSPB Communications Intern C.J. Weddle

Join us in welcoming C.J. Weddle as our new MSPB communications intern! She joins the team to share the latest insights and research for Mississippi soybean farmers and advisors so they can get the most out of every acre of Mississippi soil. As a junior studying communications at Mississippi State University, she’s a natural fit to share MSPB’s story.

Weddle lives in Starkville while attending the university. She’s majoring in agriculture education, leadership and communications – and will minor in journalism and public relations. At MSU, she is an active member of the professional agricultural sorority Sigma Alpha and, most recently, helped found the Agriculture Communicators of Tomorrow club, where she currently serves as secretary. She is also a proud dog mom to a 20-pound beagle named Lucy.

Agriculture is deeply rooted in Weddle’s background and passion for the industry. Her family has been farming in and around Vardaman, Mississippi, for over 100 years. She grew up helping her family grow, harvest and sell sweet potatoes, as well as grow soybeans and raise livestock. Her main responsibilities revolved around taking care of the goats and chickens she showed in 4-H and FFA and helping move equipment as needed.

After graduation, Weddle wants to lend a helping hand to telling agriculture’s story wholly and truthfully. Through personal experience and coursework, she has learned that what is displayed in the media isn’t always 100% accurate. Weddle’s goal is that her work is always factual and relevant so that others may use it in their daily lives.

Be sure to say hi and introduce yourself as you see her at meetings, conferences or field days. She’s excited to meet and get to know the farmers and advisors in the Mississippi soybean community.
