Fertility and Agronomic Resource Management Extension and Research for soybean (FAMERs) Program

Investigators

Objectives

  1. Provide insight into current and emerging soil fertility/plant nutrition issues and lead to relevant and timely research solutions to these issues
  2. Determine effect of in-season potassium applications on soybean yield
  3. Develop sulfur fertilizer recommendation for MS soybean
  4. Soil sample collection in nutrient stratified soils
  5. Long-term soil pH effects fertilizer recommendations
  6. Determine soil nutrient removal by Italian ryegrass

Expected End Results

Results from these objectives have the potential to impact all 2,200,000 acres of soybean planted in Mississippi. It is estimated that revenue increases and/or savings could approach $5,000,000 annually through validation of yield increasing practices or reductions in unnecessary inputs.
