Bulk Seed Handling and Seed Treatment Products

A FarmProgress article titled “More Options Available for Handling, Treating Seed” dated Dec. 3, 2021 offers a glimpse into new seed handling and seed treatment products. The following narrative is intended to highlight the linked products that may be of interest to soybean producers and/or seed dealers, and to provide links to the companies that provide those products.

Crustbuster/Speed King Inc. (crustbuster.com, ph. no. 620-227-7106) offers a seed box tote that uses a belt conveyor system to deliver bulk seed from totes to planting equipment. It is available with an optional telescoping conveyor and rubber lined spout, and has a maximum discharge rate of 900 lb./minute. The spout has 180° of horizontal travel that will allow filling of wide planting equipment without moving the apparatus.

KSi Conveyors Inc. (ksiedge.com, ph. No. 888-574-3277) offers seed treatment applicator systems of various sizes that can treat small to large amounts of seed. The 03PRO SC Applicator can treat 600-2,000 lb. of seed/min., and uses KSi’s patented Applicator Atomizer, and Seed Conditioning Boxes and Static Mixing Belt Conveyor to deliver an accurate treatment application. The 4808NGA Seed Applicator is now available in a portable unit, and can treat 600-2,500 lb. of seed/min.

USC Seed Treating Solutions (uscllc.com, ph. no. 785-431-7900) has several seed treater models. A tilting drum design with available variable speed allows control of seed retention time to ensure consistent treatment. Both stationary and portable models are available, and treating rate is 350-3000 lb. of seed/min., depending on model.

Unified Ag Solutions (unifiedagsolutions.com, ph. no. 888-402-4787) offers a variety of seed treaters, both stationary and portable, for seed dealers and producers. They also offer customizable seed treatment blends that can be matched to anticipated presence of specific pathogens at a particular production site. An available component for their seed treatment blends is BIOst nematicide 100, a biological nematicide labeled for control of root-knot, reniform, and soybean cyst nematodes.
